Do not dismiss these symptoms as ordinary tiredness.
- A Sudden, Severe Headache
A sudden and unusually severe headache can sometimes indicate a stroke, particularly a hemorrhagic stroke, which occurs when a blood vessel ruptures and causes bleeding in or around the brain.
The headache may develop very quickly and feel different from headaches the person has experienced before.
It may occur alongside nausea, vomiting, neck discomfort, confusion, or changes in consciousness.
Not every severe headache is caused by a stroke, but a sudden, extremely intense headache should be assessed immediately, especially when it is accompanied by other neurological symptoms.
