The next morning, I went to the address.
A Room Full of Memories
The storage unit was small, dusty, and filled with boxes.
I found old family photographs, childhood drawings, birthday cards, and several notebooks. Some of the items brought back memories I hadn’t thought about in years.
Then I noticed a folder with another note attached.
It read:
“Open this when you are ready to understand why I made my decision.”
Inside were documents, photographs, and a carefully organized collection of letters.
As I read through them, I began to realize that Grandma had been planning something for a long time.
She had noticed things about our family that I had never paid attention to.
She knew which relatives were struggling financially. She knew who had made promises they never kept. And she knew that certain family disagreements had become much worse than anyone admitted.
